Visit Wellington State Park
One place every first time visitor should know about is Wellington State Park in Bristol.
Wellington has the largest freshwater swimming beach in the New Hampshire State Park system. In addition to the beach, the park offers picnic areas, fishing, a nature trail and access to hiking trails.
The views across Newfound Lake are outstanding.
A developed boat launch operated by New Hampshire Fish and Game is adjacent to the park and provides year round access to the lake.
During busy summer periods, it is smart to check current park information before heading out.
Get Out on Newfound Lake
You really see Newfound differently once you get on the water.
Boating is popular throughout the summer, along with kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding.
If you prefer something quieter, an early morning paddle can be one of the best times to experience the lake.
New Hampshire has hundreds of public water access sites statewide, and Newfound has public boating access adjacent to Wellington State Park.
Even if you never get into a powerboat, finding a way to spend some time on the water should be part of a Newfound Lake vacation.
Hiking Near Newfound Lake

You do not have to tackle a major mountain to enjoy the scenery. Some of our favorite days involve a shorter hike in the morning followed by an afternoon back at the lake.

For a quieter way to experience the area, visit the Grey Rocks Conservation Area in Hebron.
Operated by the Newfound Lake Region Association, Grey Rocks offers trails, a picnic area and a nonmotorized boat launch. The conservation center also provides information about the lake and the work being done to protect the Newfound watershed.
It is also a good reminder that the beauty of Newfound Lake does not happen by accident. Local organizations and volunteers have worked for decades to monitor and protect the lake and surrounding watershed.
Explore Bristol
A Newfound Lake trip should include some time in Bristol.
Central Square and the surrounding area provide restaurants, shops and other places to explore. Nearby attractions include Profile Falls and several short walks and scenic areas.
Bristol is also where you can stock up on supplies, grab something to eat or take a break from the water.
One of the things we like about the area is that you can spend the morning hiking, the afternoon swimming and the evening exploring town without spending the entire day in the car.

Summer at Newfound Lake
Summer is the traditional lake vacation season.
This is when Newfound comes alive with swimming, boating, kayaking, paddleboarding and long days outside.

Fall at Newfound Lake
Fall may be our favorite time of year.
The crowds begin to thin, temperatures become cooler and the mountains surrounding the lake change color.
